'Scarless' Breast Reduction

Breast Reduction procedures are performed at our Wellington and Christchurch Clinics.

Breast reduction has traditionally been performed with surgical intervention called mammoplasty. The procedure involves cutting out sections of the breast and usually cutting around the nipple/areola area and elevating the nipple and loose skin.

Mammoplasty is an effective and well-proven procedure. However, it does have a high reported rate of complications (10-50%) and involves a number of hours in theatre under general anaesthetic. Complications can include unsatisfactory scarring, altered sensation of the nipple, difficulty or inability to breast-feed as well as others. Recovery from this procedure is slow compared with the now available option of Tumescent Liposuction, which has a reported low complication rate (about 1%).

See our Breast Reduction page for a fuller description of the procedure.

"3 months on I am delighted with my results. There has been a second shrinkage and my general health is very much improved. Back and shoulder pain have gone. Ill-fitting and uncomfortable bras are a thing of the past and I am becoming far more active."

"...I would definitely recommend this procedure to anyone wanting a breast reduction without a general anaesthetic and major scarring."    More...

"I...endorse the tumescent breast reduction procedure...it was less invasive and the recovery time considerably shorter."   More...

"Three months ago I had a breast reduction procedure by liposuction. I felt no pain or was uncomfortable during the procedure. I want to say how very happy I am as there is no weight anymore. Having a mammogram hurts more."
